Resistance is futile

Winter is here. The first snow storm of the season.  20 cm or more expected in the Ottawa Valley, probably a little less here because of the "lake effect".
Out the front door
I took my Vespa in for winter storage yesterday.  Just in time!
First big snow of December '09
Times like this I wonder why I ever left the South.  I could be scooter riding all year round.  No shoveling.  No getting plowed in after shoveling.  No winter boots and no carrying your shoes in a plastic bag.  No picking snowballs from between the dogs' toes.  Sigh.

But then, no excuse to stay inside and quilt all day. A colleague gave me that gift. "Think of winter as an excuse to stay indoors and do what you want." Quilting and reading, reading and quilting. Makes me love winter now.

Wow hard to imagine you have snow so early. We just have grey, damp, miserable rain at the moment and it has been like this for the past 6 weeks. yuk. Should be brighter and colder next week but no snow. We hardly have snow in the south of England so no sledging for us. Keep warm and cosy.

Enjoy the winter weather and excuse to drink hot cocoa, listen to music, sew and read. Good timing on the Vespa storage. I am experiencing 84 degree weather at the moment. Not sure which I prefer. We will be traveling to Montana for Christmas so we will get the cold, snow weather then. Best of both worlds. Enjoy your day.

I always wonder why my parents moved north...we think about heading south for health reasons...but our family is here and our kids are getting established here. So, we're stuck!

Stay inside. Stay warm. Watch a good movie while sewing, read a good book. Sit next to the heater or vents! LOL

Hang in there, Winter Solstice (the turning of the year) will be here soon and it's one of my favorite days because it means spring is coming soon!

SNOW! Snow snow snow snow snow! Woo hoooooo!

Really, snowy weather = quilting weather. You'll just have to make the best of it.

I'm from Milwaukee and now I live in Texas and I feel guilty constantly in winter as my kids lament that they've never seen snow. All snow and winter type books are lost on them and Christmas has no magic. When I was little, it was all colored lights twinkling off snow, blankets of snow silencing all the little noises and major Xmas magic. Nowadays it could be 70 degrees on Christmas. Just another day. Be happy!

PS, after I wrote that I tried to leave but found myself staring longingly at your photos. My heart aches looking at them.

It never snows here in Wellington and I miss it (and squirrels (and a few other things)). You should just count your blessings.

- interesting brother
